Railway transport

The railroad is one of the main links of the transport system of the Rostov region. In area borders the transportation of goods and passengers is made by the North Caucasian railroad – Russian Railways branch of JSC.

Main types of the cargoes transported by railway transport are: coal, oil and oil products and also construction cargoes.

For attraction of additional freight traffics and improvement of interaction of participants of uniform transport process of Russian Railway in Rostov-on-Don the information transport and logistic center is created.

Interaction between the Government by the Rostov region and Russian Railway is carried out on the basis of the concluded Agreement between the Government of the Rostov region and JSC Russian Railways on interaction and cooperation in railway transport for 2018 - 2020".

Passengers by rail in the suburban message in the territory of the Rostov region are transported by JSC North Caucasian Suburban Passenger Company.

As of 01.01.2018 are transported on route network which is serviced by 57.5 couples of electric trains and rail buses, according to the government contract of 13.04.2015 No. 31-GK on the organization of transport service of the population by rail in the suburban message across the territory of the Rostov region which determined route network, a sostavnost and the train schedule.

Economically reasonable tariff for transportation of passengers by rail in the suburban message in the territory of the Rostov region for 2018 made 33.87 rub for one ten-kilometer tariff zone, a tariff for the population of 17.50 rub for one ten-kilometer tariff zone.

The volume of the subsidies allocated from the regional budget for these purposes in 2018 was 200.6 million rubles.
